The local history of Dobbertin

The Dobbertiner local history is coined/shaped by the history of the monastery. Hardly an event is not in any connection with this. In the following facts of the Dobbertiner history are represented in connection with the Mecklenburger history.

Steinzeit
In the time of the Ur and early history some finds the settlement of the area of the today's Mecklenburgs testify.

Finds occupy the presence of first humans before approx. 16000 years, a settlement could before approx. 10000 years have begun (hunters and collecting tanks). Around 3000 v. and Z our ancestors became established, them began with the handling of the soil and the holding of animals.

Bronzezeit

The area of the today's Mecklenburgs is settled by the trunks of the Obotriten and the Wilzen (late Liutizen called). Section trunks of the Obotriten settle thereby:

  • Warnower to the upper Warnow and to the Mildenitz
  • Polaben at the Elbe around Lauenburg, Boizenburg and Ratzeburg

The section trunks of the Wilzen (Kessiner, Zirzipaner, Tollenser, Redarier) settle further east in the area between Warnow and or.

After the victory of the reformation the church goods were divided to a large extent among the Mecklenburgian dukes. Around 1750 there was no more catholic church in Mecklenburg.

We have our goods and villages and yards, probably thirty at the number, you believe not how much, as much, as a prince; yes, see you, which would like to exchange young duke certainly gladly with us. We have lakes and forests and fish and game - so much, so much, it could live our neighbour city gold mountain completely from it and have all farmers and tenants interest, we often hardly knows, where we are with the pigs and the grain. This first large war in Mecklenburg was devastating for the development. The number of inhabitants was reduced to a Sechstel (of 300.000 to 50.000). The numerous farmer places before the war were filled thereafter only to a quarter. From it the noble ones drew their advantage. The monastery is at present the largest employer in the region. This is one of the reasons for small in the comparison the unemployment ratio relative to the remaining Mecklenburg.
